“Numerous damaging behaviors”

I wanted to post this on Facebook, but it’s just a little too true and a little too painful.

It is funny; “you don’t get a body like mine overnight” presupposes a shapely body and a bunch of hard work, not a chubby body and bad habits. Incongruity, irony at satire at work here.

It’s a sharp reminder that my own bad habits are part of what got me where I am today. I’ve imbibed too many calories, I’ve neglected basic self-care, and eaten and done things that weren’t in my body’s best interests. Ouch! And the cumulative effects are not the results I wanted to get.

There’s a thread of optimism though; these are all behaviors that can be changed, modified, or stopped. It will take time to reverse the ill effects, but there’s hope.
